Lance
works in the legal department of the Inter Haven. He has a medium level position with some significant if bureaucratic authority but his real 'love' is the field work that legal must unfortunately handle. When working paper work and other 'in the office' jobs, Lance is clumsy and short tempered. He also can be insensitive and subject to foot in mouth disorder. But when working in the field, Lance is the host you want on your side. He has a real physical streak that let him let lose with the Host's sword in a frighteningly effective way. You can't be killed by Lance's sword, but he knows ten ways to make you wish you could. Lance relationship with the other major cast members can be a strained one. He has an outright hostile relationship with Jessie Drews (who has not yet appeared as of March 05) who take on the law is very different than Lance's. Most of the other cast members he is either cool or just lightly friendly with. Erik and Lance's relationship is more complex. He lived at the same general time as Erik and they knew each other and were friends on earth, but they came from very different backgrounds. Lance is conservative but is tactfully enough (barely) to not rub his disapproval of Erik's lifestyle too hard into Erik's face. Currently they both enjoy the same sort of sports (participants not spectators) and his main introduction with the other cast members will be though the various after work sports leagues they both belong. (See below for more info about afterlife sports) I mentioned that Erik and Lance are friends, and if you have read Erik's bio, you will know that for Erik that has some implications. Exactly what they are, shell be left for later exploration and speculation, but I can say clearly that in his own mind and attitudes, at this time, Lance is compleatly straight.
(Afterlife Sports) Both Erik and Lance are active participants in various after work sports leagues. There are many possible sports they may play, including several variations of mundane games from Earth, but there are also some unique ones, here are a list and descriptions of some of these. Full contact basketball: Very similar to earthly basketball, but since Hosts can't get really hurt, tripping and tackling is part of the game, but only when one has the ball. The game also switches sides much more frequently, once every 60 seconds with no pause. So if you haven't made a basket in one minute, you have to reverse and try again all the way at the other end of the court. Colored lights tell which side is which. The formal teams wear unforms that resemble a mix of beachwear with medieval armer. Impossible Mountain climbing: Special realms where huge egg shaped rocks hang over a wild ocean. Almost like floating moons or asteroids. It takes the hight skills in rock climbing with lots of inversion and upside down climbing. Zero Gravity, or Flying beach volleyball. There are really two versions of this game. One which is popular outside of the Inter haven in the other realms. There the players were beach wear but are floating in a huge space station like zero gravity area. The net is round and there is no 'over' or 'under'. The other variation is played only by hosts on break in the IH and that looks more like traditional beach court but on a larger scale more in size to a football field, the Hosts are all 'winged out' and can fly to do amazing spikes and can use their wings to block and hit the ball. |
