Ellen Burrows is the first Host we met. Her job is to greet the new residents. Sort of saint peter mixed with a social worker. There is probably a lot more going on before and after a resident arrives and Ellen is responsible for that preparation. Biograph s have to be prepared and digested, a physic examination is needed and plans on what Haven would be best for the new resident has to be made. Ellen has a number of assistants, but relies mostly on Erik who is her senior assistant. Like all the Hosts, you can not tell Ellen's age by looking at her, she appears in her early twenties, but that clearly an illusion as she been a senior greeter for at least that long. Perhaps too long as greeting is a stressful job and she is showing signs of burnout.
